Rural Education

By appointing qualified teachers in rural schools where there is a need and supporting them with an honorarium- Presently with 60+ teachers, REWARD functions in collaboration with school HMs, the Parent Teacher Associations or School Management committees and the local panchayats.

REWARD Support

Started in 2005, REWARD Trust is predominantly supported by ASHA for Education, USA . Supported by Asha's Silicon Valley, Princeton, Stanford, Boston, Florida, Austin & UC Berkeley chapters. In an attempt to reach out to all philanthropists within the country, the Trust has started a scheme named "Aayiraththil Oruvar" – Thousand well wishers contributing Rs. 7000/-per year would enable honorarium for the teachers thereby ensuring classrooms with teachers and reach the rural, marginalised, first generation students.

REWARD Trust functions on a ZERO overhead basis.

With Schools

REWARD Trust works with 50+ rural schools in and around Kalpakkam - covering schools at Primary, Middle, High and Higher-secondary level.

Teachers Refresher Programme

Monthly Refresher sessions are conducted to enhance the knowledge content of the teachers on various subjects and teaching methodology. Guest lectures by experts from diverse fields and specializations are arranged to expand the content scope.

SCALE Math

A residential summer Math Camp, titled SCALE (Summer Camp - Aspire, Learn and Enjoy) Math, for Boys and Girls at middle school level is conducted every year. Lectures, problem solving sessions, puzzles and quizzes are features of the camp to enthuse children into mathematics.

Assessments & Awards

SMART - Self Motivation Assessment by REWARD Trust Tests are conducted students of class 6,7,8 and 9. Certificates and cash awards are awarded to meritorious students for each class and each subject & also to inter-school, intra-school level toppers. Students scoring above 80% in the Tamil Nadu State Board Exam in Class X and XII from the REWARD schools are encouraged through Suguna Memorial Award (SMA).
